Until we restart school. William wants a longer summer but we're starting back the beginning of August. I have my book list together and they need to be purchased in about 2 weeks. I'll also be taking 4 classes this fall semester in college, plus working, plus going to Curves, plus William's karate 2 nights a week, plus selling on eBay, plus computer tutoring...when should I sleep or clean the house? I guess never. Scott will be doing science classes this year so that's something I won't have to worry about. I do need to be more organized with what we do and keep up with things better.

Back to summertime! I'm still blogging off and on but since we aren't doing school really there isn't much to say. I thought we would read An Island Story from the beginning and finish 2 books we didn't do last year but that hasn't happened. We did finally finish all the Harry Potter books and I'm anxiously awaiting book 6! I'm planning to spend 5 weeks in England next summer for school so I'm going to visit some of the movie sites and post some pictures as well.

We're working on some house stuff as well, building a fenced area for the dogs and cleaning out a junk room to be the new eBay / computer room. I'll probably be working on it for the next year or so. I really need a way to schedule my life, but I won't follow it. Maybe I am an unschooler at heart...

William is interested in science and keeps coming up with little experiments he wants to do. Last night he got an empty 3 liter soda bottle and put warm water in it. I told him the definition of hypothesis and asked what his hypothesis, his guess, was on what would happen. He said he wanted to know if the water would make the bottle hot and if it would steam. He realized later he'd put too much cold in the bottle so he started over. Sure enough, about 30 minutes later, the bottle was warm :) Then he refilled it with cold water and put 2 pieces of Nerds candy in it to see if they would dissolve. This morning the candy was gone and he swears he invented a new air freshener, but I can't smell anything. Anyway, I think it's neat to see that he is interested in something and willing to do even a simple experiment - at least to me - to prove something to himself.

I have to say that after receiving a post from a homeschool site I'm on I'm bothered by fellow Christians looking for evil in everything. Why can't something be fantasy, imagination? Does a Christian have to look at everything as possible having some hidden agenda? Some way the government or Satan is trying to grab our kids? It just really bothers me.

Why do we always search for something "better" for homeschooling? The other night I was supposed to be studying pre-calculus but found myself searching curriculum. I found myself wanting to buy this and that and even found a classical curriculum for sale. But in the meantime Scott's car has broken down - new radiator needed - and I've discovered again that what we are doing is fine, Ambleside is plenty deep and rich enough and I'll only end up spending maybe $60 on what I still need for the year. There is nothing better than that. Now I just need to actually do what is planned and accomplish something. I know he's learning, I just want to do so much and I find the more I search and look at different sites I want to do even more. I need to stop confusing myself and stick with what I've got.

Today is my wedding anniversary. Scott and I have been married for 14 years. We've known each other since 3rd grade. We were 8 years old. We dated for 2 years before getting married. I remember as a young 18 year old back then, thinking of our 10th anniversary, our 15th, etc and it seemed so far away. We've been through so much over these past years and it seems to have flown by. In 14 years we've lived in 2 states, spent 3 years in Germany, had a child, cared for many pets, began homeschooling, survived a seperation, and dealt with many emotional issues on both our sides. I finally made peace with some inner demons and stopped letting them talk me out of succeeding. Scott finally came to terms with a job he's good at and he's been there 5 years this year. We've made major strides in our financial life but we still have some work to do. It's been a great ride and I'm looking forward to the next 14 years :)

Next year for our 15th anniversary we are planning to take a cruise. We may have to wait for the following year if I'm able to take the trip to England that I want to take next summer. We are definitely going to take one though. That's been my dream vacation for a long time.

I have to say that while marriage has been sometimes very hard it's been very satisfying. I could never imagine being with anyone else.
