Our homeschool is to be a place of parental influence, where dreams can grow, knowledge can be gained, and where practical life skills are learned as well as "book knowledge".

    Updating...

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I had a few days off before reporting to work. I do still have a job, just the one now instead of 2.

Schooling is going okay. William is sick today so things have been called off. He took the placement test for the PASS test yesterday for reading and language. We've received the test from Hewitt and will be testing within the next 3 weeks. There are still some things that need to be covered before testing.

I don't know how college is going to work out this summer. We got back our tax refund but I'm not going to be able to use any of it for school. We'll have to see how things go.

    Lost my job...

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. We are doing school every day, still trying to get ready for testing in April.

I lost one of my part-time jobs today. I'm not that upset. I'm going back to working part-time for my mom and we'll see how that goes. I'm also doing some other things. I have my eBay store - link on the right - and I'm an eBay trading assistant and computer tutor, so it will work out.

    Everyday Things...

Life is going on. We're still working on school stuff, mostly getting ready for testing at the end of the month. I'm getting ready to go to college again in May. We finally got our taxes done and e-filed the other day. Money is going to savings and college expenses. Nothing really exciting going on right now.

We're going to see The Passion of the Christ on Wednesday night.

    Everyday things...

Nothing really exciting to post about. We finished Harry Potter 4 and began 5. The book ended very sadly and I hate that Harry must live with his terrible relatives. I can't wait for the movie in June, though. It looks really good. I don't think reading the book will spoil the movie. Seeing it in action will really make it come alive for me, I feel.

Yay to Lord of the Rings! I'm so happy they won so many awards. They deserved it.

Check out Wil Wheaton's blog - the link is to the right. He just finished a wonderful story about a poker game. It's very thrilling, and I am not a poker player. I'm trying to figure out who he was playing with, as he didn't name names. I'm still not sure if it was fiction, exaggeration or truth, but he wrote it very well.

School is going well, we are moving on and getting ready for testing in April.

    Division

We began division yesterday. I know it was the first day but he didn't get it. He's barely getting multiplication and now I have to toss division in there to get ready for the PASS test in April. Uggg! Today math will consist of word problems. We did a few yesterday in the reading comprehension exercise. He did well on that when he paid attention to the story. We officially started Ambleside year 3 yesterday. We aren't doing some things, like the art and music and we aren't reading the Trials and Tribulations books, but pretty much everything else we are doing. I'm considering putting the schedule in a zip format so people can download it. I'm waiting on 2 ILLs from the library so we can read the books, but I have the books ordered for my bookstore anyway. BTW, if anyone is looking for homeschool stuff I'm going to update my bookstore with more variety. I'm going to try to include some of the Ambleside books as well as other books. If there are certain things you would like to see there let me know and I'll see about ordering it.
